Review your deck

Don Valentine famously said: “The art of storytelling is incredibly important. Learning to tell a story is critical because that’s how the money works. The money flows as a function of the story”.

Despite its importance, our society doesn’t teach people how to tell stories. Therefore, founders often tell stories like good corporate managers, bankers, consultants or technologist and not like startup founders and especially not how VCs think. I personally had to unlearn and learn a lot thanks to YC’s partners during the demo day training.

While telling stories might seems an art, it is mainly a science. There are a set of rules to structure your deck and ensure it stands out from the crowd.
